Pack up the kids and catch a family flick under the stars this summer at one of these Middle Tennessee locations.

School’s almost out, so it’s time to start thinking about fun summer activities for the kids like free outdoor summer movies! Find a movie in the park and catch a family flick under the stars this summer.

Movies In The Park in Nashville at Elmington Park

Nashville Movies in the Park

Elmington Park | 3531 West End Ave, Nashville

Nashville’s longest running outdoor movie series is back for its 31st season every Thursday in June at Elmington Park. The free, family-friendly events feature food trucks, games, activities and of course, a movie under the stars! Movies will begin at sundown, but the fun will start at 5 p.m.

  • June 19: The Goonies
  • June 26: Twisters

Goodlettsville Movies in the Park

Peay Park | 200 Memorial Drive, Goodlettsville

Bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy a free outdoor movie under the stars in Peay Park (200 Memorial Drive, Goodlettsville). The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starts at sundown. Food trucks will be on site for food and drink purchases. Registration is requested but not required. All registrants will be entered to win a free one-day pool pass for Pleasant Green Pool. A winner will be announced ahead of each movie showing.

NightLight 615, Nashville's 21+ Outdoor Movie Series | Nashville Guru

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park | 600 James Robertson Pkwy, Nashville

Nashville’s 21+ outdoor social cinema outdoor series takes place at Bicentennial Capitol Mall amphitheater and lawn (600 James Robertson Pkwy., Nashville). The series runs on select Thursday or Friday evenings June through October. General Admission Tickets ($15.99) often sell out, so a Season Pass ($135) may be worth the price.

Dive In Movies at Nashville Shores

Nashville Shores | 4001 Bell Road, Nashville

Come enjoy some of your favorite movies on Fridays in July at Nashville Shores. Movies start at 7:15 p.m. at the wavepool, which will remain open during the movie but the waves will not be operating. Dive in movies are included with a paid waterpark admission ticket on that day or a season pass. Twilight tickets (after 4 p.m.) are available at the discounted rate of $32.99 plus tax. Children two years old and younger are free.

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to a free movie under the stars in Murfreesboro! The movies show at Barfield Crescent Park (697 Veterans Pkwy) on Mondays, Richard Siegel Park (515 Cherry Lane) on Thursdays, Cannonsburgh Village (312 S. Front St.) on Fridays and Fountains at Gateway (1500 Medical Center Pkwy) on Saturdays. Concessions will be available to purchase. Show starts at dark.

Franklin’s free summer movie series takes place once a month (except August and September), May through October. Shows start at 8 p.m. or at sunset with concessions available for purchase.

See your favorite throwback 80s movies at the Stardust Drive-In Theatre on Wednesday nights through August 2. Cost is $9 for ages 12 & over, $7 for ages 6 – 11 and  free for kids 5 and under. Double showings happen at 8:50 and 10:55 p.m.

Springfield Parks & Recreation is bringing free, family-friendly movies to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Park (2623 South Main St., Springfield) on the third Friday of each month, June – September. Movies start at sunset (typically between 7:30 – 8 p.m.).
