Homeschool Day: Back to School in the One-Room Schoolhouse

Kick off your homeschool “Back to School” with a trip back to a one-room schoolhouse. Learn the rules of the classroom and the subjects taught. The program will be offered at two times since seating is limited inside the schoolhouse. Reservations for a specific time are required. This is the first of several homeschool days planned for the 2021-2022 school year, so mark your calendars. Flowerpot Painting & Guided Tour of Herb Garden

Fall Racquetball League

$15 league entry fee
Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation offers competitive and recreational racquetball for those players who have experience with the game. The league is separated into A, B, and C divisions. Players wanting to get into our racquetball league may use the contact and game information below if interested. Games played on Thursday nights. For ages 18 and up.

Free play in nature has many proven benefits for children-improved motor skills, increased confidence, better self-awareness and risk management, and so much more! Get your kid dressed in some grubby clothes and meet in front of the Wilderness Station on Fridays in August for our ever-popular Nature Play program. Mud painting, shaving cream insanity, kiddie pool, water beads, paint stamping and chalk are just a few of the things that will be set up each week. For ages 1 and up with adult supervision.

 

Animal Encounters

Creek Stompin'

Meet us at Overall Creek Trailhead (near Kid’s Castle) for some fun in the sun! There’s a great grassy area there to set up blankets for hang-out or snacks. We will get in the creek with our nets and see what kind of critters we can catch and release! We typically find snails, crawfish, minnows, and more! Water shoes are required. This event will not occur if there is bad weather or the water level is too high. Please call the day prior to check program status. For ages 2 and up.

 

Adult Kayak Float to Fancher Falls

Hummingbird Festival

Children’s activities, hummingbird merchandise, and much more await you on this day. Join us in the morning and again in the afternoon as SEAR (Southeastern Avian Research) bands hummingbirds.
