Applications for the annual Williamson County Fair scholarship program are available online through April 1, 2023.
The Williamson County Fair scholarship is a token of appreciation for graduating high school seniors in the county who have exhibited or volunteered at the fair. Applicants must:
- earn at least a cumulative 2.75 GPA
- provide two reference letters
- complete a 300-word essay on “The Benefits of a County Fair”
Since 2013, the Williamson County Fair Board has awarded $44,800 in scholarships to 31 local students.
“Providing scholarships is another example of how the fair gives back to our community,” says Fair Board Chairman, Diane Giddens. “We want to support our youth who volunteer or exhibit at the fair and encourage them to further their education and give back to our community.”
In memory and in honor of “Mr. Bill” Veevers, the Fair Board initiated an additional new scholarship in 2022 to be provided annually to the most outstanding applicant who exemplifies community service. Mr. Bill served as Facilities & Logistics Chair of the Fair from its return in 2005 until his passing in October 2021.
The 2023 Williamson County Fair will be held Friday, August 4 through Saturday, August 12. To learn more about the scholarship, visit williamsoncountyfair.org.
