Going to the movies is fun. The kids love the excitement of the big screen (with snacks and drinks, of course!). But, now going to the movies gives the family an all-new experience. Regal Opry Mills 4DX is the first Nashville theatre location to feature the premium large format 4DX. What this means is that during the movie, you'll experience seats that move (up, down, forward, back, side to side) and weather effects (lightning, rain, wind and snow!). With each movie, the experience is different, too. However, there's only one room with this cutting-edge technology. So, limited viewing times are available.
Avengers: Endgame in 4DX is a MUST!
No spoilers here. I'm only going to tell you about the experience in the seat. Avengers: Endgame is the first movie to be shown in 4DX … and it's a must-do! Think about it. It's like a roller coaster set to the beat of a movie! You'll really feel like you're a part of the action.
If something flies by a character's head, a puff of air goes off by your ear! A little bit of a jolt if you don't expect it. With each rumble of a fight scene (as there's always one in these movies), the seats rumble and shake, too. More features … there are sections within the chair at your back that give a little nudge as if you're the one being "kicked" in the scene. Puffs of air also go off down by your ankles (weird, I know). The coolest features were the nice breezes that pass by in scenes that warrant smooth air (or big bursts of air) as well as misting, rain drops and more! The seats move and sway smoothly in scenes like you're riding in a plane, too. Don't worry, there's a foot rest so you get the full experience.
Oh, did I mention the movie is 3D, too? You may have to wipe the rain water off your 3D glasses (depends on where you sit). I would definitely sit in front of the long black bars in front of the seats (see picture above).
The only drawback is seeing such a long movie in 4DX. You, of course, don't want to miss a thing. So, if you've gotta go potty, it's harder to not want to go. The seats feel like you're on a car ride and the driver hits every little bump in the road. Kids (who have already downed their drinks) may need to get up and go after that!
