Murfreesboro's The Center for the Arts is offering a bevy of online arts classes for kids. Currently underway, participants can still sign up for classes running through May 26.
Here are the classes you can register your kids for:
The Bare Necessities of Theater Mini Classes
Ages 5 – 8
$75 for a six-video series; Teaching artist: Denise Parton
This is an introductory class that allows kids to follow along at their own pace.
Acting Up
Ages 9 – 12, Mondays from 1 – 1:30 p.m.
Ages 13 – 18, Mondays from 2 – 2:30
$75 for six lessons; Teaching artist: Denise Parton
The Center's first-ever virtual acting class, kids get to interact online by trying out acting techniques and fleshing out characters from scripts.
Choreo
Ages 10 and older
Wednesdays from 6:30 – 7 p.m.
$75 for six classes; Teaching artist: Brittany Griffin
Center for the Arts' longime choreographer breaksdown shows and movement.
Mini Choreo
Ages 5 – 8
$75 for six videos
Learn the basics of theater dance with steps broken down by CFTA's Brittany Griffin.
Elements of Music
Ages 8 – 11
Mondays at 4:30 p.m.
$75 for six lessons; Teaching artist: Nate Paul
Experiment with rhythms, melodic phrases, writing the most common major scales and more.
Music Theory and Ear Training
Ages 12 and older
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m.
$100 for 12 lessons; Teaching artist: Nate Paul
For the actor who is serious about taking singing to the next level, participants will learn to read music, practic rhythms, harmonies and more.
Glamour and Gore
Ages 10 and older
Thursdays 1 – 1:30 p.m.
$100 for six classes; Teaching artist: Denise Parton
Pick up a make-up kit then join the class and learn all about theatrical make up.
Playwriting Class
Ages 10 and older
Tuesdays from 1 – 1:30 p.m.
$75 for six classes; Teaching artist: Denise Parton
Discover how to create a story, plan plots and create conflicts with characters.
Fundamentals of Art
Ages 10 and older
Wednesdays at 1 p.m.
