Camp Wonder Wander is open year round for families, groups, troops, homeschool outings, parent/child adventures on our 17 acres of forest and fields with river basin access to the Buffalo River in Lewis County, the rural rolling foothills of Appalachia. Empowering youth (and extended family units of all ages yearning to release their inner child) to get into nature away from screens to discover their inner creative monster and develop positive creative habits as they draw, doodle, collage, make mistakes, tell a story, and learn graphic design, photography, and pottery in a farm stay environment with donkeys - minis and standards, chickens, peacocks, camp cats, special needs dogs and a couple of rabbits. This art camp was founded and is directed by a former Graphic Design Professor who after more than 20 years in a computer lab yearned for the experiences in nature she cherished from her own youth and in scouting as a youth and leader. There are numerous badges that she can assist with in your scout projects. Coordinate your own experience with a day trip, overnight or extended stay in the lodging (options up to 24 people) for those who prefer glamping, check out our Yurt or pitch a tent. Contact Val for more information on add-on activities such as guided nature hike, a pottery lesson, or learning Graphic Design (in person or virtual coaching options) and the art of accidental adventure. Numerous workshops available throughout the year. Kayak or canoe the Buffalo. Sleep-away summer camp options: Ages 11-14 creativity camp encourages exploration in nature and a variety of mediums, 1 and 2 week option in June. Ages 14+ spend the month of July in an intensive graphic design bootcamp and extend that with a citizen designer session. Murals and other art abound here.
