Nashville Collegiate Prep, Southeast Nashville’s Newest K-8 Public Charter School To Open in 2021
Southeast Nashville officially welcomed Nashville Collegiate Prep, its newest K-8 tuition-free public charter school at its recent groundbreaking ceremony and introduced its founding principal, Christine Stoudt. The school is located at 1638 Bell Road in Nashville.
Stoudt is a seasoned principal with more than 27 years of academic experience from Louisiana to Las Vegas serving in multiple roles from classroom teacher, K-12 administrator to founding principal of two other charter schools. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from University of Southwestern University in Lafayette, LA and her Master of Science degree in educational leadership from NOVA Southeastern University in Las Vegas.
“I am so excited to open this school and provide an experience for students unlike any other in Southeast Nashville,” said Stoudt. “We have high expectations for all students, and we focus on the whole child throughout their academic journey. Every student will be supplied iPads and our caring, competent educators in every learning community will establish personalized learning with each student to maximize individual academic success.”
The existing two-story building is being renovated and will encompass 30,880 square feet with a capacity of 468 students and will provide students with a safe, positive, and hopeful learning environment. The school’s unique design offers spacious community classrooms that allow for large or small group learning. The kindergarten learning community features adjustable walls and break-out rooms allowing for large or small group learning. This spacious classroom features enough collaborative instructional space for five traditional classrooms. Grade 1 to grade 4 are each housed in their own self-contained grade level learning communities. Each grade level community consists of individual room with a large collaborative instructional space in the center and adjustable walls. The school will also have a science lab, music room, art classroom and an indoor play area.
“Students will learn the skills and mindset necessary to not only face reality but create improvements for the next generation,” said Dan Boone, Chair of ReThink Forward, the school’s governing board. “It has been our vision from the beginning to provide a personalized, engaged, supported, and challenging environment that will strengthen students academically, socially and emotionally.
