End-of-Summer Outdoor Concerts Bring Family Fun

As summer winds down, take the kids to a festive — and FREE! — music outing and dance the night away.

Lots of great music will fill the air during these end-of-summer concerts. Music’s a great way to connect with others, including your own kids! Mark your calendars to unwind at these fun family concerts:

’24 OUTDOOR CONCERTS

 

Bluebird on the Mountain Concerts at Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory

BLUEBIRD ON THE MOUNTAIN

The concert series — presented with the world famous Bluebird Cafe — happens monthly through October at the Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory. Much sought-after tickets-by-the-carload are released on specific dates one month prior to each event. They sell out quickly and are currently showing approximately $206 on Eventbrite for a carload of eight. To score tickets, keep refreshing the page when attempting to purchase. Tickets are not officially sold out until the words “sold out” appear. Upcoming 2024 monthly dates are:

  • September 21 — SOLD OUT
  • October 12

 

Jazz on the Cumberland

Jazz on the Cumberland at Nashville’s Cumberland Park

JAZZ ON THE CUMBERLAND 

The popular — and FREE — Jazz On The Cumberland concert series is held on the third Sunday of the month through October from 5:30 – 8 p.m. The venue’s located at Nashville Cumberland Park (592 S. First St., Nashville). Bring your favorite blanket or lawn chair to enjoy some of the best local, regional and national jazz artists performing live at this family- and pet-friendly event. Enjoy a variety of food trucks, concessions, vendors and even a “Kid’s Fun Play Zone.” (No alcohol, tents, umbrellas, or soliciting allowed). Upcoming dates include:

  •  September 29. Artists to be announced.
  •  October 20, starting at 4:30. The Cumberland All-Star Band.

 

Arrington Vineyards

ARRINGTON VINEYARDS

Come out to Arrington Vineyards (6211 Patton Road, Arrington) for free live jazz and bluegrass bands Saturdays and Sundays on the Hillside stage from 3 – 7 p.m. Food will be available. No reservations required.

Friday Night Live in Murfreesboro

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE CONCERT SERIES

Main Street Murfreesboro throws a musical party on the courthouse square from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. There’s always room in front of the stage to cut a rug or bring a chair and enjoy the music sitting down. Come early to have dinner at one of the locally owned downtown restaurants and do a little shopping around the square before the music begins. The final date of the series is coming up:

  • September 20: Everyday People (R&B)

Outdoor Concerts at Portland’s Sumner Crest Winery

SUMNER CREST WINERY OUTDOOR CONCERTS

Sumner Crest Winery in Portland hosts free, family-friendly summer concerts. Bring a picnic and blanket! The final date for the season is:

Thursday Night Out at Cheekwood

THURSDAY NIGHT OUT

Kick off the weekend at Cheekwood’s Thursday Night Out, happening every Thursday evening from 5:30 – 9 p.m. through October. Enjoy TROLLS: Save the Humans while a diverse music lineup provides the eclectic soundtrack. In addition, the evenings feature regionally-sourced food and spirits, lawn games, wellness classes and more. Tickets are $10 for members and $22 for non members. Advanced reservation required.

 

Summer Concert Series at Hendersonville’s Streets at Indian Lake

HENDERSONVILLE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

Bring lawn chairs, blankets or enjoy ample seating throughout the plaza for this summer concert series live under the stars at the Streets of Indian Lake (300 Indian Lake Blvd., Hendersonville). The final date of the season is:

Pickin’ in the Park at Sping Hill’s Harvey Park

PICKIN’ IN THE PARK

The 12th annual Pickin’ in the Park concert series at Harvey Park (4001 Miles Johnson Parkway, Spring Hill) is a family-friendly event features local musicians and songwriters. Bring chairs and blankets, and enjoy an evening of music! Food trucks will be on site. The remaining date for 2024’s performances are:

SUMMER TRIBUTE SERIES

Come out to the Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park (112 Everbright Ave., Franklin) as musical groups pay tribute to a variety of genres and artists. Tickets are $27.50 for adults and $25 for seniors 55 and over. Concerts start at 7 p.m. The final concert of the 2024 series is:
