Kids can explore art and architecture in a fun new way at Cheekwood this summer through the International Playhouses exhibition running May 21 – Sept. 4.
The exhibit takes its inspiration from the travels of the Cheek family who spent several years visiting spots around the world finding international inspiration for the design of the Cheekwood mansion. The exhibit features six structures representing India, Scotland, Chile, Japan and two reflecting Spain.
“This summer, we are inviting families to take a grand tour of their own, right here on the grounds of Cheekwood,” says Brian Downey, director of exhibitions. “The local architects chosen for this exhibition have worked wonders to create playhouses that are educational, interactive and fun for the whole family,” he adds.
While you’re outside at Cheekwood, you can still enjoy Steve Tobin’s Southern Roots outdoor sculptures through Sunday, Sept. 4 right alongside the International Playhouses structures.
Located at 1200 Forrest Park Drive, Cheekwood’s hours are Tue – Sun 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission’s $16 adults, $9 ages 3 – 17. Call 615-356-8000 or visit cheekwood.org.
