Where Every Family Matters

Camp Will Deadline Extension

Summer camp is for everyone and Camp Will gives kids with special needs a chance to have lots of fun, too!

Want your child with special needs to have a summer camp experience that will last a lifetime? Sign him up for Williamson County Parks and Rec's Camp Will. This summer day camp for children, adolescents and young adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities takes place June 2 – July 19 (no camp on Thursday, July 4) Mon – Fri from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. It allows the kids to build confidence and self esteem, enhance social skills and foster independence through various activities.

In order to be eligible to participate in the WCPR Camp Will 2019 program, campers must be between the ages of 6 – 23 (campers must be 6 years old by May 31, 2019) and a resident of Williamson County. Please note: If a camper turns 24 during Camp Will, that camper will be allowed to remain at Camp Will for the rest of the camp dates. After the last day of camp, the camper will then be aged out of the program.

Campers are put into groups of 10 (based on age) for a safe and fun summer camp experience. A head counselor oversees each group with the assistance of three to four counselors, which puts the ratio at two to three campers for every one counselor. Campers must be able to function within a group setting.

Registration

Sign your child with special needs up for up to seven weeks of summer camp — availability dependant. However, once registration is full, families have the option to be put on a waiting list. There is a $25 nonrefundable registration fee due at registration and the summer camp costs $65 per week. Online registration is a first come, first served basis — no in-person registrations is accepted. Parents, please register at one location only.

New campers must also complete an assessment prior to online registration. The deadline to complete new assessments for Camp Will 2019 has been extended to Wednesday, April 17. Please call (615) 790-5719 ext. 2033 to schedule an appointment.

Financial aid is available upon request. However, you need approval in advance (prior to the final payment). Please e-mail Traci Hamby at traci.hamby@williamsoncounty-tn.gov for more information. Financial aid may supplement the weekly rate, but does not cover the $25 registration fee.
