There's been a lot of buzz about the redevelopment at the old Bellevue Center mall site, and a new preliminary agreement between the Nashville Predators and Metro Nashville government means two ice rinks might be added to the area. Nashville Mayor Megan Barry and the Nashville Predators will hold a news conference this Thursday at Bellevue Baptist Medical Center to officially announce the project. The new facility will be modeled after the Ford Ice Center in Antioch that opened in 2014. The addition of the new ice center will mean more spots for kids and families to enjoy ice skating along with more opportunities for youth hockey leagues. Olympic gold medalist and Middle Tennessee dad Scott Hamilton is expected to lead programming at the Bellevue ice center akin to the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy at Ford Ice Center. If the new Predators ice center is approved, construction may begin this summer for an opening date sometime in fall 2018. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.
