If you're the proud parents of a brand-new baby, congratulations! There's a world of fun and discovery ahead of you. In fact, you might consider learning infant massage along the way.

The benefits of infant massage are bountiful. It provides fun interaction with your baby that promotes bonding, secure attachment, verbal and non-verbal communication, sensory stimulation, feelings of love and beyond. According to the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM), each massage may stimulate the following: • circulatory and digestive systems • hormonal and immune systems • coordination and balance • learning and concentration • muscular development and growth • mind and body awareness There's more! Infant massage can help relieve common issues like gas, colic, constipation and elimination, muscular tension and cramps. Baby's sleep patterns may improve, and he may have a calmer demeanor — all good stuff!

If all those benefits sound good to you, you're in luck! This Little Piggy Massage hosts infant massage classes on Saturday, Feb. 11 & 18 and March 18 & 25. Certified Infant Massage Educator Megan Greffen teaches the class to moms and dads with babies ages newborn to 6 months old. The small-group instruction includes all materials as well as a handbook that shows all the strokes and presses you'll learn in the class. Classes take place at Baby+Company, located at 3212 West End Ave., Ste. 100, Nashville. They take place from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. and cost $78 for two sessions — that covers two caregivers per baby.
