The Discovery Center in Murfreesboro founded the Tennessee STEAM Festival in 2017, and last year it expanded across the state. STEAM (an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art and math) aims at inspiring and creating a passion in the local community and all throughout Tennessee. It's a movement that aims to inspire young lives for tomorrow's future.

The 2019 Tennessee STEAM Festival, running Oct. 10 - 20, includes myriad special events; there are already more than 70 of them in the MIddle Tennessee area alone (more events are being added).

The special events all have particular themes. From air rockets to the science behind recording technology, kids can find something to pique their interest in the STEAM spectrum.

In Middle Tennessee, the festival lineup starts in Murfreesboro on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Mayday Brewery (free for all ages) — Paul Fischer, Ph.D., presents "Science on Tap!: The Social Science of Rock 'n Roll."  It's the first of many community events happening in the mid-state.

Kids love inspiration, and the Tennessee STEAM Festival provides plenty of close-up experiences to strike the spark.
