Where Every Family Matters

Storybook Houses at Cheekwood

Your family can step into the story through a new outdoor exhibit celebrating storybook illustrations, like the "We Are Wild" house (pictured above), inspired by the artwork of Maurice Sendak.

The wonder of children’s storybook illustrations come to life in a new way at Cheekwood. Storybook Houses is a new outdoor exhibit running May 1 – Sept. 1.

You’ll find a re-imagining of five childhood classics in whimsical playhouse form, each inspired by a particular children’s illustrator:

“Oh, The Places You’ll Play” (Dr. Seuss)

“Hill Top Garden” (Beatrix Potter)

“Charlotte’s Barn” (Garth Williams)

“We Are Wild” (Maurice Sendak)

“TRAINS!” (Loren Long)

The “TRAINS!” playhouse — featuring a slide, platform and more — will be a permanent addition to the Trains! exhibit located in the Turner Seasons Garden.

Cheekwood is located at 1200 Forrest Park Drive, Nashville. Hours are Tue – Sun 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $20 adults, $13 ages 3 – 17, free ages 2 & younger.
