The Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) Department is excited to offer a variety of holiday events and programs for all ages throughout the county. Here’s what they have going on during the month of December:
Letters to Santa
Now through December 17, 2023 the Letters to Santa program will be collecting letters to Santa in personalized mailboxes throughout the county. Drop your letters off at any of the following locations and should include a return address.
- Franklin Recreation Complex at 1120 Hillsboro Road in Franklin
- Fairview Recreation Complex at 2714 Fairview Boulevard West in Fairview
- Nolensville Recreation Complex at 7250 Nolensville Road in Nolensville
- Longview Recreation Center at 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill
- Williamson County Indoor Sports Complex at 920 Heritage Way in Brentwood
A Christmas Carol the Musical by Star Bright Players
The Star Bright Players’ 2023 winter production is the spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens’ most well-known story, adapted by Broadway heavy hitters Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island). Six performances will take place over two weekends: December 1 – 3, 2023 and December 8 – 9, 2023 at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center (112 Everbright Avenue, Franklin). Deck the Howls
On Saturday, December 2, 2023, WCPR will assist the Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC) in hosting Deck the Howls, in partnership with dozens of pet shelters across the country. From 3:30 to 5 p.m. children (ages 4-12) will have the opportunity to read to shelter pets, decorate cookies, create ornaments and visit with Santa visits at the WCAC (1006 Grisby Hayes Court in Franklin). Williamson County Community Chorus Holiday Concert
The Williamson County Community Chorus (WCCC) will present two performances of their Holiday Concert on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 4 and 7 p.m. and the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin at 101 Legends Club Lane. This program is family-friendly and will include Christmas songs both familiar and new, performed by over 80 members of the WCCC, accompanied by local musicians. The concerts are free to attend and open to the public.
Williamson County Community Band Winter Concert
On Sunday, December 3, 2023, the Williamson County Community Band will present a Winter Concert at 3 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at 110 Everbright Avenue in Franklin. The concert will feature a varied program, including traditional carols from at home and abroad, medleys of seasonal popular tunes, holiday movie themes, and a surprise piece or two. It is free and open to the public.
A Charles Dickens Victorian Tea
The following weekend, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, WCPR will host this special holiday-themed tea party from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center at (110 Everbright Avenue in Franklin). Guests will have the opportunity to taste traditional Victorian Christmas teas, finger foods and desserts while delving into the characters and meaning behind one of Charles Dickens’ most popular pieces of fiction, A Christmas Carol, published in 1843. This experience is open to all ages with registration required for all participants. The cost is $35 per person, but children ages three and under receive free admission with a paid adult. A Frozen Adventure: Winter Ballet Performance
Also on December 9, 2023, join the Rhythm & Spirit Dance Program for A Frozen Adventure: Winter Ballet Performance. Through captivating dance routines and breathtaking choreography, our talented dancers bring the story to life. This event is the perfect way to kick off the Holiday Season with the whole family! This performance will take place on December, 9, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at the College Grove Artsitorium at 861 Horton Highway in College Grove. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased here. Now through November 24, 2023, guests can use code WinterBallet at checkout to receive $3 off each ticket.
A Celtic Christmas
Close out the holiday season on Monday, December 18 at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center. Embrace the spirit of the holiday season with the enchanting melodies, timeless traditions, and heartwarming sing-alongs of “A Celtic Christmas.” Get ready for an unforgettable evening with progressive folk band The Founding, known for their unique balance of traditional Celtic music and contemporary innovation. This musical journey will feature traditional and original Christmas tunes alike, as well as beloved Celtic classics that will transport you to the heart of the Emerald Isle. Your soul will be uplifted, your spirits will be brightened, and the echoes of your voices singing along will resonate with the joy of the season.
