Get ready, berry lovers — it’s strawberry pickin’ season in Tennessee! Farms across the state are bursting with fresh, sun-kissed berries, and most will be open now through May. If you’re craving that just-picked sweetness, there’s no better time to head straight to the source.
Before you grab your baskets, be sure to give your chosen farm a quick call to check on picking times and procedures — berry season can be a little unpredictable depending on the weather. Typically, you’ll have about four to six weeks to fill your buckets (and maybe sneak a few bites along the way).
Strawberries aren’t just a sweet treat — they’re a powerhouse of goodness, packed with folate, vitamin C, and heart-healthy benefits like improving blood vessel function and lowering bad cholesterol. Strawberry-Picking Tips
- Almost all of the farms have Facebook pages and/or websites to keep you up to date on when the berry farms are open for picking, and other details. Check the farm’s facebook before you go.
- Wear old shoes because you are likely to get your feet dirty or muddy. Closed toe shoes are recommended.
- Most of the farms provide baskets for picking but if you have baskets, bring them.
- Take cash. Some farms accept Venmo but not all accept credit cards or checks. Cash always works.
