Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson East and her husband, former NFL player Andrew East are opening a new KidStrong location in November at 420 Cool Springs Blvd, Suite 110 in Franklin.
The children’s development concept offers 45-minute, coach-led classes for children from crawling age through 11 years old. The program combines movement, problem-solving and character development through activities designed to build confidence, resilience, coordination and independence.
“As an Olympic athlete, I’ve been in every training program imaginable,” says Shawn Johnson East. “What makes KidStrong different is that it builds the whole kid — not just their body, but their confidence, their character and their ability to handle hard things. That’s what actually carries them through life.”
The Franklin center will offer age-based classes built around three areas: strong body, strong mind and strong character. Activities include obstacle courses, movement challenges, teamwork exercises and skill-building games. The location also plans to offer camps and birthday parties.
The Franklin opening will expand KidStrong’s presence in Middle Tennessee with a location already in West Nashville. The Franklin center is also actively hiring coaches, with positions expected to begin in November.
KidStrong describes its curriculum as science-based and developed with input from experts in child development, academia and occupational therapy. Each class is designed to incorporate physical activity with cognitive challenges and life skills.
KidStrong has not yet announced an official opening date for the Franklin location. Families can sign up through KidStrong Franklin’s website to receive updates on construction and the anticipated opening.
