As a mom, finding your tribe is invaluable. MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is an international organization promoting fellowship, friendship and community for moms with children ages birth through kindergarten. Communities and neighborhoods throughout the globe have their own chapters, including East Nashville MOPS. This chapter for moms on the east side meets on the first and third Fridays of each month from 9:15 a.m. – 12 p.m. Meetings take place at First Church of the Nazarene (510 Woodland St., Nashville). The group provides free childcare — just bring a sack lunch for your child. The meetings start with food and fellowship. A message of hope follows, via video or a guest speaker, which in turn encourages moms to participate in small group discussions and friendship building. A "mentor mom" facilitates the small group discussions. In addition to the first and third Friday meetings, the group also schedules monthly playdate outings for kids. Furthermore, special "Mom's Time Out" excursions takes place for moms without their children.
There is a one-time memberships fee of $31.95 that goes to the international office. For more info, call 615-255-1289, ext. 137, or visit mops.org/groups/east-nashville-mops.
