Pre-K3 through Grade 8 • Enrollment: 490 • Established 2001
Saint Matthew is an accredited, co-educational Catholic School located in Williamson County, Tennessee, established in 2001, currently serving 490+ students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The school opened in 2001 with the mission of educating students while passing on the traditions and teachings of the Catholic faith. This goal is accomplished through the motto of the school: Seeking Knowledge, Modeling Christ, and Serving Others. These three simple words, Seeking, Modeling, and Serving, are the guiding force behind every aspect of daily life at our school. In living the motto, Saint Matthew School desires to give each student the opportunity to cultivate the gifts they have been given, the opportunity to discover new gifts to better serve their faith and community, and the opportunity to become the best version of themselves they can be.
Winning Williamson County’s Community Choice Award for Best Private School in 2024, Saint Matthew provides a superior program of academic preparation for our students. In 2021 and again in 2024, SMS was recognized as an Apple Distinguished School, one of only 1000 schools worldwide to be classified as such. In fall 2017, Saint Matthew was named a Blue Ribbon School, the only private school in Williamson County to ever receive this distinct honor. Our students supplement their academic endeavors with the opportunity to participate in our competitive sports teams, and our co-curriculars.
The moral and spiritual lessons that emerge from faith based instruction find their way into everyday application by students at SMS. The high standards of Christian character, conduct, and service are developed as students embrace our motto. We welcome students of all faiths and believe that understanding of the faiths of others, coupled with our catholic teachings, contribute to the character development of all our students.
Each year during Catholic Schools Week, the entire student body participates in Demonstration Day. Demonstration Day serves as a tangible way for students to see all of the different ways their peers have “served others” throughout the school year. Each grade works with a particular organization or community during the year such as Room in the Inn, the Ronald McDonald House, and the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Students learn about the needs of each specific organization and create a plan to address them. On Demonstration Day, they share their insights and actions with the wider community. It is a great opportunity for our school to show how we live out our motto of “serving others”.
Saint Matthew School prepares children to think critically, lead with integrity, discover their purpose, and fulfill their calling to become a saint.
Choosing the best place for your child’s education is one of the most important decisions you will make…come and experience the Saint Matthew difference.
