Where Every Family Matters

Foodie Fun: Weenie Brunch Sunday!

Your kids will love a trip to East Nashville's Five Points for a unique brunch experience at one of the city's favorite hot dog joints.

Sunday brunch is a big to-do among many families living in the South. While many brunch outings tend to lean toward the prim and proper, there's a much more casual offering in East Nashville at a hot dog stand.

I DREAM OF WEENIE

There are several hot-dog options around the Nashville area these days, but I Dream of Weenie has led the way for years — quite frank-ly, it's my favorite of them all.

Nestled in East Nashville's vibrant Five Points area, I Dream of Weenie is an attractively unusual hot dog stand made from a vintage Volkswagen van. It certainly adds a lot of charm to the east side's vibrant vibe. It boasts a unique regular menu with bold palate-pleasing combinations in addition to creative daily specials.

You can order dogs from this family-friendly spot with your choice of all beef, turkey, bratwurst or veggie (tofu) weenies.

WEENIE BRUNCH SUNDAY

It's fun to discover off-the-beaten path gems that satisfy the stomach, and I Dream of Weenie's Weenie Brunch Sunday is one of them. Here are the yummy menu options:

A creamy, cheesy hashbrown casserole on top of your choice of hot dog.

EGGS BENNY WEENIE: $4.25
Smoked sausage links topped with a poached egg and homemade hollandaise sauce, finished with herbs de Provence sea salt. The BENNY DELUXE is $6.25 and comes with double sausage and two eggs in one bun.

WEENIE, EGG & CHEESE: $4.25
A hot dog topped with cheddar cheese and an egg cooked to order.

The Hashbrown Casserole Weenie topped with a fried egg and salsa — YUM!

TRIPLE H: $4.75

FRENCH TOAST WEENIE: $4.25
A French-toasted hot dog bun with breakfast sausage links, maple syrup and powdered sugar — eat it hot dog style!

TRIPLE B (BREAKFAST BUFFET IN A BUN): $6.25
This one is a little bit of everything: French-toasted bun and your choice of sausage, maple syrup, hashbrown casserole, egg your way and hollandaise sauce.

Of course, you can get creative with mix-and-match add-ons like egg and cheese ($1.25), salsa or jalapenos ($.25), or chili or chow-chow ($.75). And all of the regular menu items are available on Sundays as well.

Weenie Brunch Sunday starts at 10:30 a.m. and runs until supplies last (that's usually 2 p.m.). Closing time is 5 p.m.

There are plenty of picnic tables with umbrellas along with a bin full of colorful mats you can spread out on the ground under the trees.
