Where Every Family Matters

Free Fishing Week for Kids

On Saturday, June 6, lots of Middle Tennessee fishin’ holes invite youngsters to cast a line free of charge.

Few memories stick out as clearly as catching that first fish! Kids ages 15 and younger can fish for free June 8-12 at all public bodies of water, courtesy of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. This includes TWRA-owned and operated lakes plus Tennessee State Parks.

Where to Cast a Line in the Nashville Area

Since there’s free fishing for kids all week long, head to a local spot on your own and consider these excellent locations:
    • Two Rivers Park: Features great bank-fishing access near the Cumberland River.
    • Percy Priest Lake: Smith Springs Park in nearby Hermitage offers beautiful coves and accessible banks.
    • Shelby Park: Offers excellent fishing opportunities on the east side of Nashville.
    • Harpeth River State Park – Narrows of the Harpeth: Located at 1300 Narrows of the Harpeth Road in Kingston Springs
    • Harpeth River’s Hidden Lake – 7851 McCrory Lane, Nashville
    • Harpeth River State Park – Newsom’s Mill – 8729 Newsom Station Road, Nashville
    • Pinkerton Park – 405 Murfreesboro Road, Franklin
    • Willow Pond: Located right off Highway 100 in Percy Warner Park, this is a highly accessible, family-friendly pond.
    • Statewide State Parks: You can visit any Tennessee State Park to take advantage of license-free fishing and local family events
