Do you enjoy the relaxation that yoga brings you? Curious to learn more techniques from different instructors? You can during the Boro Yoga Fest. On Saturday, March 16 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Main Street Music (527 W. Main St., Murfreesboro), yoga enthusiasts are invited out for an all day festival where a different instructor teaches every hour. The festival is appropriate for ages 13 and older, but anyone younger than 18 must have a parent sign a waiver.
This year, the festival offers Iyengar Yoga. Jerry Farmer, the only Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher in Murfreesboro, leads this class. Also, the festival offers another new style of yoga this year: BODYFLOW. Led by Lynn Smith & Demita Jones, BODYFLOW features a scientifically-backed combination of simple yoga moves with some elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. The focus is on improving functional core strength, enhancing joint mobility and creating a sense of wellbeing and calm.
Other styles of yoga include Ashtanga, Kundalini, Restorative Yoga and more (see the full schedule online). Cost per person for the festival is $39. Festival proceeds benefit Yoga Foster (yogafoster.org), which empowers educators with yoga and mindfulness training, curriculum, self-care resources and yoga mats to create healthier, happier classrooms.
