Homeschool Programs for Little Performers

Just a few homeschool programs for the creative kids.

The Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation’s Perform Murfreesboro hosts a few homeschool programs that begin in August — signups are happening NOW! Get in on the action and call Susan Hicks at 615-893-7439, ext. 6104, for more information. Here’s what’s available:

Homeschool General Music

Mondays, Aug. 12 – Dec. from 10 – 11 a.m.
Ages 7 – 11
Cost: Perform Murfreesboro Membership; plus $50 activity fee

This class focuses on general music skills and allows kids to discover their love for music. Activities include music appreciation, basic music notation and beginning rhythms. Vocal music immerses students in group singing. Students in this program will also perform in the Christmas showcase on Dec. 9.

Homeschool Show Choir

Mondays, Aug. 12 – Dec. from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Ages 9 – 17
Cost: Perform Murfreesboro Membership; plus $50 activity fee

Students learn ensemble and solo singing, choreography and performance skills. They spend the last class time learning material for “Christmastime is Here” to perform with the Ensemble Choir on Dec. 9. Limited to 30 students.

Homeschool Theatre

Wednesdays, Aug. 7 – Dec. from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Ages 8 – 13
Cost: $200; plus a Perform Murfreesboro Membership and a $50 activity fee

Students learn acting skills, basic auditions skills, ensemble and solo singing as well as performance skills. It culminates in a performance of AristoCats KIDS in March. Spots are limited!
