Where Every Family Matters

Inaugural Top Gun Night Run

Fans of the Great Tennessee Air Show come together in support of the Capt. Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial to help raise funds for it.

It was June 2, 2016. The Navy Blue Angels were practicing for the annual Great Tennessee Air Show in Smyrna. Marine Captain Jeff Kuss, a member of the Navy Blue Angels Team, lost his life when his plane crashed during this practice session. The Smyrna community and Blue Angels fans around the country mourned and showed an outpouring of support for the Kuss Family. Before too long, a memorial was in the works. Now, with the memorial completed and open to the public, the parks department seeks help with routine maintenance. Here's one way you can help with that:

Top Gun Night Run 6K

The Capt. Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial hosts its inaugural Top Gun Night Run 6K on Friday, May 31 at 9 p.m. Runners begin at Lee Victory Park (110 Sam Ridley Pkwy. E., Smyrna) and take a course through the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport and Smyrna Municipal Golf Course with the finish line at the memorial. There will be live music and food trucks in the park, too. Register to race online or at the Smyrna Parks department (100 Sam Ridley Pkwy. E.) for $50 per person (includes T-shirt and medal).
