Everybody’s excited about the Franklin Rodeo – did you know it brings in more than 18,000 fans a year? It’s one of the longest running family events in Middle Tennessee. And the littlest visitors may need to work up some bravery for two events held at the Rodeo (May 18-20) each night.
Mutton Bustin’
Little girls and boys can get into the thrill of the rodeo by trying their hand at this: Organizers strap a helmet and buckle vest on your child for safety, then let’em ride a big old mutton around the rodeo rink. Kids must be no more than 50 pounds to enter.
Calf Scramble
Kids in two different age groups (6-9 and 10-12) get up close and personal with calves! Organizers place a ribbon on the tails of three calves then turn’em loose. The first three kids to return the ribbon to the clown wins a cash prize!
How to Get Your Child In on the Fun:
Your child MUST be entered in the drawing at the rodeo for a chance to ride in the Mutton Bustin’ or run in the Calf Scramble (there’s no preregistration). For the Mutton Bustin’ only 10 names will be drawn each night (be sure to enter early; entries close right after the Grand Entry).
The Rodeo takes place at the Williamson County Ag Expo Center (4215 Long Lane, Franklin) at 7 p.m. each night (doors open at 5:30 p.m.). Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids ages 12 and under. Get tickets here.
