Chances are if one of your favorite music celebrities is decked out in bling then fashion icon Manuel is the creative force behind the outfit. Known as the “Stylist to the Stars,” you can experience the handiwork of the talented couture mogul through the exhibit Go West Young Man at Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center (1017 Antebellum Cir., Hendersonville). The exhibit runs Nov. 16, 2019 – Jan. 5, 2020.
Manuel's signature designs are known worldwide for their elaborate, rhinestone embellishments that have bedecked the rich and famous dor decades. Artists and musicians alike have worn Manuel's work, including Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Marty Stuart, Dwight Yoakam and Salvador Dali.
In addition to select Manuel designs, the exhibit’s western inspiration also includes the vintage Western art of Mark Hobley and colorful, beaded skull sculptures of Maria D’Souza. In addition, you'll see iconic Western movie posters from Booth Western Art Museum.
A free opening reception where you can meet the artists takes place Saturday, Nov. 16 from 6 – 9 p.m. Gallery hours are Tue – Sat 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sun 1 – 5 p.m. Admission is free.
