Where Every Family Matters

Murfreesboro Police to Host National Night Out

After a four-year hiatus, the Murfreesboro Police Department is bringing back National Night Out, an event that invites residents of all ages to come together for an evening of connection, celebration and public safety awareness. The event is set for Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Oaklands Park (427 Roberts Street, Murfreesboro).

This free, family-friendly gathering is a chance for neighbors to build stronger relationships with the officers who serve their community.

One of the highlights of the night will be the popular Touch-A-Truck event, where kids and families can explore police vehicles, emergency trucks, and other equipment up close. Plus, enjoy community games and surprises to keep the energy high and the smiles wide.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to meet the officers who serve their neighborhoods and enjoy a fun evening together,” said Lt. Jason Higgins, who is coordinating the event. “We’re excited to see everyone and strengthen the connection between law enforcement and the community we proudly serve.”

While MPD has participated in the Faith & Blue initiative over the past three years, returning to National Night Out reflects the department’s commitment to revitalizing local engagement through this nationally recognized platform — which encourages trust and collaboration between citizens and police.

For more details or questions about the event, contact Lt. Higgins directly at 629-201-5565 or by email at [email protected].
