Nashville’s Main Library Reopens

After almost a year of being closed due to renovations from a fire in the building's parking garage, Nashville Public Library's Main branch is open again.

After months of assessment, work and waiting, the Nashville Public Library is reopening the Main Library branch downtown.

The library, which closed in June 2025 after a fire in the parking garage forced the building’s closure, reopened on Monday, March 30.

All public areas of the main library — except for the Conference Center area — are open to patrons. Not only can you visit the library, but you can check out materials, sign up for library cards, browse the collection and use the library’s computers.

In addition, Wishing Chair Productions Tuesday puppet show storytimes are back in April!

What About Parking?

The Nashville Downtown Partnership encourages all to use the garage at 147 4th Avenue North.
