You'd better get on it! Theatre classes for kids at the Center for the Arts start up in January as part of their Center Stage Academy — and space is filling up fast. Your little thespian can enjoy a variety of classes created for all ages. You can register for classes online, and you have to download a few forms to fill out and turn in as well. Deadline to register for the production class is Monday, Jan. 14. For all other classes, you can register until two weeks into the class (Tuesday, Jan. 29). Classes begin Monday, Jan. 14.
Here's what you can choose from:
PRODUCTION JUNIOR
Grades 6 – 12
A performance based class that focuses on all aspects of the production of Annie Jr. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Cost is $275 in full or $28 weekly.
PRODUCTION KIDS
Grades 3 – 6

MINIS: THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF SEUSS
Grades K – 2
This intro to the theater and performing arts for little ones helps them learn the basic elements of singing, acting and dancing. Pick a day that fits your schedule. Classes are held either Mondays or Tuesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Cost is $120 in full or $15 weekly.
TRIPLE THREATS
Grades 3 – 6 and 6 – 12
Kids can become INCREDIBLE performers by learning the three cores of musical theater — acting, singing and dancing — with a Disney's Incredibles theme. Although the classes are split into Kids (grades 3 – 6) and Junior (grades 6 – 12), they both take place at the same time. Classes are held Mondays from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Cost is $175 in full or $22 weekly.
ACTING 101
Grades 3 – 12
Kids learn the basics of acting and communication in this full hands-on class held on Wednesdays from 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. Cost is $120 in full or $15 weekly.
ONE ACTS
Grades 5 – 12
Develop overall performance skills from first audition to final bow. Classes are held Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Cost is $175 in full or $22 weekly.
GLAMOUR & GORE
Grades 6 – 12
Learn how to apply basic stage makeup, glam it up and more. You'll also learn how to fantasize your face and apply wounds and gore as well as aging and special effects. Classes are held Wednesdays from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Cost (which include a basic makeup kit) is $150 in full or $20 weekly.
NO FEAR SHAKESPEARE
Ages 13 and older
Discover how to skillfully understand and perform Shakespeare's plays through games and exercises. Classes are held Thursdays from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Cost is $175 in full or $22 weekly.
TAPPY FEET KIDS

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS
Ages 11 – 18 (younger by audition only)
The Center for the Arts now has two voice instructors — Mark David Williams and Nathaniel Paul. For this class, you need to e-mail Williams at mark@boroarts.org. You pick a day that fits your schedule. Cost is $30 per half hour lesson.
