The Old Hickory Community Center is slated to reopen on March 21, after nearly two years of closure, demolition and reconstruction.
“We are excited and we know you are too! The Grand Opening of Old Hickory Community Center is 11 a.m., March 21,” Metro Nashville Parks & Rec says. “For your safety and for the remaining work that needs to be done, the center is not open to the public. It is an active construction site and is not yet open to the public.”
The old center closed in 2024, paving the way for demolition and reconstruction of a brand new facility on the grounds. Redevelopment of the Old Hickory center was approved and funded by former Mayor John Cooper in 2022.
Plans for the new community center included a 27,000-square-foot facility with an indoor basketball court, fitness center, ceramics studio, and more.
Phase 1 of the park features a brand new 7,000-square-foot playground, a kid’s bike track, tennis courts, pickleball courts and a basketball half-court.
When the new center opens, expect plenty of programming: including pottery classes, senior strength classes, senior bingo, boot camp, dance fit, yoga, tot time, pickleball, volleyball, basketball and more.
