Safe Harbor Sanctuary is a non-profit equine and livestock rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing sanctuary that believes in the dignity of all creatures. Safe Harbor is a 100-percent volunteer-run foster farm.
The organization's primary programs are:
After the Track — Let-down, re-training, conditioning and adoption of horses that originated in the racing industry.
Rescue — Rehabilitation, training and adoption of horses from cruelty and neglect in partnership with local animal control and law enforcement.
Community Outreach — Therapeutic programs for at-risk youth, special needs, veterans, service organizations and others who benefit from interaction with horses.
FALL FESTIVAL: SATURDAY, OCT. 19
Safe Harbor hosts a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The festivities include live music, pumpkin painting, equine demonstrations, hayrides, vendors, children's games with prizes and more.
Kids can also have fun posing for photos with a unicorn and Axel the Norwegian Fjord horse (think the for from Frozen).
You can also meet the sanctuary's adoptable animals, including horses, pigs and goats.
Admission to the festival is $5 per person or $20 for a carload. Each child’s admission includes five game tickets. Additional activity tickets are available for purchase on site.
