Get ready to celebrate spring’s favorite fruit during the 78th Annual Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival in downtown Portland. The main festival is Saturday, May 11. It kicks off at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast before the Strawberry Stride 5K at 8 a.m.
The festival itself runs from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. featuring more than 125 local vendors, children’s activities, strawberry eating contests, live music, mascot meet and greets, a carnival and fireworks at night … and, of course, local farmers on site selling their succulent strawberries!
A LOT OF PRE-FESTIVAL FAMILY FUN
But wait, there’s more! Leading up to the main festival is a week’s worth of related happenings. The Middle Tennessee Strawberry Pageant takes place Saturday, May 4 at Portland High School. That night in the high school gym is the Strawberry Slam wrestling bout featuring Jeff Jarrett.
The annual Strawberry Golf Tournament is Tuesday, May 7 at Kenny Perry Country Creek Golf Course in Franklin, Kentucky. The Strawberry Carnival featuring rides, games and food runs Tuesday, May 7 – Saturday, May 11 at Richland Park starting at 5 p.m. each day.
Friday, May 10 brings Movie on Main Street. Bring blankets or chairs for a free screening of Pirates of the Caribbean at 7:30 p.m.
