It’s a two hour drive from Nashville, but worth the trip. Bring your kids to get up close with a variety of animals at Tennessee Safari Park, located in Alamo, Tenn. Your kids will love riding along with you while on “safari” and seeking out animals. And, according to Tennessee Safari Park’s Facebook page, the park currently has several baby animals!
Tennessee Safari Park
The park takes guests approximately 1-and-a-half to two hours to get through, and the last car is taken at approximately 4 p.m. There are lots of animals to see as you drive! Animals include Addax, Alpaca, Aoudad, Axis deer, Bactrian Camel, Bennetts wallaby, Bison, Blackbuck, Blesbok, Damara zebra, Dama gazelle, Dromedary camel, Eland, Emu, Fallow deer, Gayal, Gemsbok, Giraffe reticulated, Guanaco, Hog Deer, Kangaroo grey, Kangaroo red, Llama, Mini donkey, Nilgai, Nyala, Ostrich, Pere david deer, Red lechwe, Red river hog, Rhea, Roan antelope, Sable antelope, Sika deer, Sitatunga, Springbok, Takin, Tapir, Warthog, Waterbuck, Wildebeast, Zebu.
The animals are free-roaming, so you drive through with car windows open along the route and stop and go. Various animals will dig into your food bucket (buy at the park entrance) if you hold it out from your window. If by any chance an animal succeeds at taking your bucket, do not get out of your car!

What else is there to do near Alamo, TN?
A little less than an hour from the safari park is Discovery Park of America.
Cypress Grove Nature Park is in Jackson, TN, 26 minutes southeast of Tennessee Safari Park. Cypress Grove is a nature preserve for wildlife and features a boardwalk through a cypress forest, over a mile long.
Also in Jackson, TN is the Casey Jones Village and Railroad Museum.
