We all love movies and the best kids’ movies coming out this summer are here! Most of these are coming to theaters for a fun, big-screen outing, but a few are slated to go straight to streaming services (and those are the ones that are usually announced at the last minute, so there’s sure to be more in the future). “The Garfield Movie”
Release Date: May 24, 2024
Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure. After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a high-stakes heist.
“Robot Dreams”
Release Date: May 31, 2024
This film, based on the comic by Sara Varon, lost to The Boy and the Heron for Best Animated Feature) It’s about an anthropomorphic dog who, suffering from loneliness, orders a robot to be his friend. The near wordlessness and pervasive melancholy gives the impression that it’s not exactly aimed at kids, but the older ones might get into it.
“Inside Out 2”
Release Date: June 14, 2024
The sequel t0 2015’s Inside Out. Riley turns 13 and Headquarters undergoes a sudden demolition to make room for new emotions, something Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust weren’t prepared for. The first new emotion they meet is Anxiety, who carries a lot of emotional baggage — literally. Amy Poehler returns as the voice of Joy.
“Despicable Me 4”

Gru welcomes a new member to the family — Gru Jr. — who’s intent on tormenting his dad. However, their peaceful existence soon comes crashing down when criminal mastermind Maxime Le Mal escapes from prison and vows revenge against Gru.
“Descendants: The Rise of Red”
Release Date: July 12, 2024
Former Villain Kid Uma, now headmaster of Auradon Prep, extends an invite to the school to another VK – Red, the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts from Wonderland. After the Queen of Hearts incites a coup against Auradon, Red must team up with Cinderella’s perfectionist daughter Chloe and travel back in time to try to undo the traumatic event that set Red’s mother down her villainous path.
“Harold and the Purple Crayon”

Crockett Johnson’s book about a boy who wields a magic crayon that makes drawing real gets a movie adaptation courtesy of Carlos Saldanha. Harold can make anything come to life simply by drawing it. After he grows up and draws himself off the book’s pages and into the physical world, Harold finds he has a lot to learn about real life-and that his trusty purple crayon may set off more hijinks than he thought possible. When the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands, it will take all of Harold and his friends’ creativity to save both the real world and his own.
