Beginning this month, Studio Tenn offers seven-week courses for kids in grades 3 – 5. These two-hour courses focus on the best audition practices and on specific parts of the audition process. Nashville theatre professionals are on hand to instruct the students to become more fearless and creative in an effort to shape the future of theatre. The courses conclude with a mock audition for a panel of educational and theatrical professionals who provide specific feedback and critiques. Cost is $350 per student.

The Monologue Jan. 14 – Feb. 25 Mondays from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Interim Artistic Director, Benji Kern, prepares kids for the world of professional theatre with a focus on the selection and preparation of monologues. The aim is to pick something that showcases each individual student's strengths and individualities. Song Book Jan. 15 – Feb. 26 Tuesdays from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Casey Hebbel helps students select music that's best suited for his or her vocal range and character type. Students explore song selections through in class performances, feedback and critiques as well as the do's and don'ts of auditioning. Dance Call Jan. 17 – Feb. 28 Thursdays from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Choreographer Anna Perry introduces students to the process of dance call for auditions. Through mock dance calls, students learn the basics of musical theatre as well as tricks to ease the anxiety of the audition process. Kids also spend time on technical skills and explore specific musical theatre dance styles.
