Studio Tenn will open its 17th season with The Addams Family, running Oct. 8 through Oct. 25 at Turner Theater in The Factory at Franklin.
The musical comedy, based on the characters created by Charles Addams, follows Wednesday Addams as she falls in love with Lucas Beineke, a young man from a more conventional family. When the Beinekes come to dinner at the Addams mansion, secrets, culture clashes and family chaos quickly follow.
“It seems fitting to begin this season with a family that has spent nearly a century reminding us that there is more than one way to belong,” said Patrick Cassidy, Studio Tenn artistic director and director of the production. “For all its outrageous comedy, The Addams Family is ultimately about something wonderfully human: loving people for who they are, making room for change and discovering that what makes each of us different may also be what makes a family, and a community, more interesting.”
The cast includes Brian Michael Jones as Gomez Addams, Sandra Allen as Morticia Addams, Jacob Waid as Uncle Fester, Anna Jones as Wednesday Addams, Rachel Agee as Grandma, Lukas Goodfriend and James Hodgin as Pugsley, and Scott Patrick Wilson as Lurch.
Geoffrey Davin will play Mal, with Megan Murphy Chambers as Alice and Dylan James as Lucas. Cassidy directs the production, with choreography by Anna Claire Perry and music direction by Scott Brons, who will conduct a live orchestra at each performance.
Performances will take place at Turner Theater inside The Factory at Franklin.
‘The Addams Family’ is recommended for ages 13 and older. Tickets start at $30 and are available through Studio Tenn, the Turner Theater box office or by phone. Discounted tickets are available for active military members, veterans, students and educators with valid identification.
