A/C Events for Hot Summer Days

Head inside where it's cool for some fun away from the sun this month.

The summer heat is cranking up, but your family doesn’t have to sweat to have fun this month. Check out these fun happenings that are inside in the great A/C!


Discovery Center Summer Fun
Programs free with the $8 gate admission take place every day this month: Mon – Fri includes Animal Antics, Storytime, Nature Nuts and Science a la Cart. Mondays also feature Snack Attack. Enjoy Crafternoon activities Sat – Sun.

Get Creative at Little Art House
Drop-in art classes ($15) for ages 5 – 10 every Saturday, plus family art classes (registration required) for ages 3 & older Saturday afternoons ($15 per project).

Martin ArtQuest at the Frist
Free for kids ages 18 & younger, keep cool while gettin’ creative with dozens of hands-on art-making stations.


David Blaine at the Ryman
The master of illusion dazzles all ages on Friday, July 14.

The Drowsy Chaperone at NCT
NCT Emerging Artists ages 14 – 18 present this musical July 28 – 30.

String City at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum
July 5 – 8, slip into the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum’s Ford Theater for this all-ages puppet show detailing the history of country music. It’s free at 10 & 11:30 a.m. each day.

Sudekum Planetarium Summer Laser Shows
Every Saturday in July from 8 – 11 p.m., experience laser lights dancing to pop music across the dome.

Summer Movie Madness
All areas, &
Family-friendly flicks for cheap! Regal: Mon/Tue at 10 a.m. for $1; Malco: Tue/Wed at 10 a.m. for $2; AMC: Mon/Wed at 10 a.m. for $4 (includes Kids Pack).

The Theater Bug’s If I Were You
The Bug’s new original musical stars a cast of kids. The show runs July 13 – Aug. 5.


Fireplace Character Dinners
On select Wednesdays, your family can enjoy a free meal and meet special characters like SpongeBob & Patrick (July 5), Frozen friends (July 12), and Mario & Sonic the Hedgehog (July 19).

Kids at the Capitol
Special kids’ programs at The Capitol Theatre for $5. The lineup features Safari Greg (July 11), Homeward Bound movie screening (July 18) & Super Science (July 25).

See & Sing The Little Mermaid
Franklin Theatre
On Sunday, July 16, members of Nashville Opera lead this sing-along experience while you watch Disney’s animated movie.
