Nashville has never been short on ambition. Adventure Science Center has been part of that story for 80 years, building a legacy with deep roots and a long horizon: generation after generation of Nashvillians who grew up curious, came back to make sure their own kids did too, and left with a deeper connection to the world around them.
Perched on a hill overlooking downtown Nashville, the center has spent decades doing something remarkable: making science feel personal. Not like a textbook or a classroom lecture. Like something that belongs to you, something you can touch and test and investigate. With numerous exhibits spanning biology, physics, earth science, space, technology, and more (plus sensory-inclusive spaces designed to welcome every kind of learner), the science center offers an environment where curiosity has room to roam.
But the experience extends well beyond the exhibits themselves. Live science demonstrations and open labs led by on-staff educators bring concepts to life in real time. The Sudekum Planetarium transports visitors across the cosmos through full-dome films, laser shows, and night sky tours. And whether you’re a toddler discovering how things move, a middle schooler unlocking a passion for robotics, or a parent realizing how much more there is still to learn, there’s something here that meets you where you are.
That spirit of lifelong curiosity runs through everything the science center does. STEM camps invite young scientists to experiment and explore throughout the year with immersive, themed programming. The Homeschool programs bring structure and community to families learning outside traditional classrooms. Evening events open the doors to adults who want to experience the planetarium or engage with science on their own terms. The invitation is open to everyone.
That same accessibility extends beyond programming. As a nonprofit, Adventure Science Center has always believed that curiosity shouldn’t be limited by circumstance. Free and reduced admission programs, educator partnerships, and community outreach efforts ensure that science remains open to every Middle Tennessee family, regardless of where they’re starting from.
The science center is also looking ahead. Major enhancements are in development, including PEAK Performance: The Science of Health, an exploration of human performance and medical innovation. Much like science and exploration, more is just on the horizon.
The next generation of scientists is already among us. Adventure Science Center is where their journey begins.
