Audition for ‘The Sound of Music’ by Rising Stars

Little thespians in 1st through 8th grade can audition for this summer production through Williamson County Parks & Rec and Rising Stars.

The Rising Stars summer production is Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music: Youth Edition, running July 21 – 23 at Academy Park. The youth theater program has auditions are slated for May 8.
The musical’s story — based on the memoir of Maria Augusta von Trapp — follows Maria, a postulant nun. Maria is chosen to serve as a governess to the seven children of Captain von Trapp, an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Navy. Maria’s presence and bright spirit brings music and joy to the very serious household. Yet Nazism is taking hold in Europe and in the von Trapp’s homeland, Austria. The von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

In this adaptation for pre-high school students, the content has been edited for younger attention spans.

ABOUT RISING STARS

Rising Stars is a training ground for young performers in grades 1 – 8. The group produces two full-scale musical productions each year. In addition, several Broadway-style intensives/camps are offered each summer. Rising Stars is audition-based.

Rising Stars also offers a Musical Theatre Experience Program in Franklin and Nolensville. This program has produced “101 Dalmatians Kids”, “Annie Kids”, “Aristocats Kids”, “Dear Edwina, Jr.”, “Seussical Kids”, “Frozen Kids” and “Lion King Kids” and “The Addams Family” (young@part version). The spring production will be James & the Giant Peach JR.
