Do you have a musical child who loves to sing? It’s time to brush up on his rendition of “Happy Birthday” for auditions coming up at Blair Children’s Chorus program at Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music. The esteemed program draws musical children from all across Middle Tennessee and is under the artistic direction of Mary Biddlecombe, Tucker Biddlecombe and Lauryn Moody. Upcoming auditions will place children according to their skills. The program includes a Training Choir (boys and girls in grades 1 – 5), Boychoir (boys in grade 3 and higher), Young Men’s Chorus (boys with changed or changing voices), Blair Choristers (girls in grade 5 and higher) and a Concert Choir (girls in grades 8 – 12). Auditions take place on Monday, Dec. 12 and Tue., Dec. 13 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Blair School of Music in room 1109-C at 2400 Blakemore Ave. in Nashville. Audition procedures vary according to age, ability and previous music experience. Your child can sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” or “Happy Birthday,” and he may be asked to sight-read a simple melody. Tuition for participating in the program is $335 for 15 weeks. Different choirs rehearse one afternoon a week.
