On any given gorgeous Saturday morning, it’s worth packing up your little ones and heading to Bowie Nature Park in Fairview for an outing.
Inside the Nature Center, Naturalist Dennis Gibson holds free Saturday NatureNauts during the day from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (just drop on in), bringing with him unique fun for exploring creatures, specimens, fossils and more.
Bowie also offers monthly one-hour Nature Stroller sessions for moms on select Saturdays for parents with kids ages 18 months – 5 years in addition to periodic Music and Movement classes and more.
Bowie Nature Park is also home to the terrific Treehouse Playground complete with mazes, tunnels, ramps, bridges and ladders, and a wheelchair accessible area. There’s also Joann’s Outdoor Classroom — a 1,000- square-foot facility that seats 100 for children’s nature classes (the center can be rented for $75).
