Brentwood teens will soon have a new space of their own at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library. The library is moving forward with plans to transform its former Quiet Room into a new Teen Space designed around feedback from local teens.
Library staff surveyed teens who use the library and worked with the Teen Advisory Board to determine what they wanted the space to look and feel like.
The library selected Nashville-based design firm Daniels Chandler to develop the space. The design will have an academic, collegiate feel with arched windows, darker wood tones, cozy study areas and a fireplace. A new entrance and vestibule will also give the Teen Space its own distinct entrance.
“It’ll give it that sort of collegiate library feel, which is the next step for these teens,” said Meredith Bardill, an architect with Daniels Chandler.
The previous Teen Space was recently converted into an upgraded Quiet Room. Construction is expected to begin in early 2027.
