Where Every Family Matters

Clifford Exhibit Opens Saturday

Climb, slide and enjoy lots of hands-on activities with the Discovery Center's newest exhibit, "Clifford the Big Red Dog." It opens Saturday ... with an option to have breakfast with Clifford, too!

Everyone’s favorite giant red dog strolls into town this month with a new exhibit at The Discovery Center at Murfree Spring. Clifford the Big Red Dog — opening Saturday, Sept. 22 and running through Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 — was inspired by Scholastic’s top-rated TV show Clifford the Big Red Dog on PBS Kids. The exhibit offers numerous immersive “paws-on” adventures that reinforce Clifford‘s big ideas. Board the Birdwell Island Ferry and pretend you’re on a journey with Clifford. See Emily Elizabeth and all the residents of Birdwell Island, Clifford’s doghouse, a colossal nine-foot Clifford with a tail kids can slide down and more.

Kids can also help fill Clifford’s big dog bowl with bones using a conveyor belt, create sand art and find “bone-ified” treasures at T-Bone’s beach, browse the Norman Bridwell art retrospective and see 40 years (that’s 280 dog years) of Clifford art and stories and more.

There’s also a special Breakfast With Clifford event to kick the exhibit off on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 – 10 a.m. Buy your tickets now and you’ll get to visit with Clifford the Big Red Dog and enjoy a ”bone-appetite” catered breakfast followed by play time in the center. Cost for the breakfast is $5, plus general admission for non-members. Seats are first-come, first-served, too.

The Discovery Center is located at 502 S.E. Broad St., Murfreesboro. Hours are Mon – Sat 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sun 1 – 5 p.m. Admission is $8, free ages two and younger. Call 615-890-2300 or visit explorethedc.org.
