Deck the Howls Lets Kids Read to Animals

Enroll kids ages 4 - 12 to come read to a furry friend on Dec. 2.

Here’s something for the howlidays — Deck the Howls! Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC) and dozens of other pet shelters across the country aims to have kids remember furry friends in shelters with the Deck the Howls event taking place on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 3 – 5:30 p.m.

Kids (ages 4-12) can arrive in pajamas to cozy up with and read to shelter pets, decorate cookies, create an ornament, and visit with Santa. Holiday stories will be provided by the Franklin Public library and kids can practice their reading skills in front of a non-judgmental audience. The animals benefit by learning how to relax around visitors, leading to quicker adoptions. Space is limited; reserve your child’s spot now.

Registration is $25 per child. The WCAC is located at 1006 Grisby Hayes Court in Franklin. For more information on registering, contact Evan Smith at Evan.Smith@williamsoncounty-tn.gov to register.
