Blind Early Services Tennessee (BEST) is the only nonprofit in the state solely dedicated to serving families of young children who are blind or have low vision. We ensure that families are empowered and equipped through specialized programs of support to provide young children their absolute BEST start. Almost all families receive our services at no cost, making a life-changing impact during the most formative years of development.
Through our flagship program, BEST Start, we provide in-home, family-centered early intervention for children from birth to age five. Our team of expert providers partners with families to create meaningful routines and adaptations that support healthy development.
BEST Together connects families through community events, a week-long summer camp, and resource sharing—because no one should navigate this journey alone. Camp BEST, in particular, provides families with opportunities to build friendships, share experiences, and discover hope after a vision diagnosis.
BEST Advocate helps families prepare for the transition from home-based services to school-based supports, offering guidance and advocacy every step of the way.
Together, these three programs form a comprehensive, wraparound model that delivers immediate, hands-on support while also building long-term confidence and empowerment for the road ahead. Our signature gala, BEST Fest, is the largest fundraiser fueling these programs. Held each late fall or early winter, the evening features passed hors d’oeuvres, a sit-down meal, an open bar, live music, and both silent and live auctions. Guests also hear directly from BEST families and view videos that highlight the impact of early intervention and family support. The evening includes the presentation of our annual Impact Award, honoring individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to BEST’s growth.
