Are you a grandparent or relative caring for a child? We have funds available to help?

In partnership with Family and Children’s Services, the Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) offers the Relative Caregiver Program in 13 counties across Middle Tennessee. This program allows eligible caregivers to receive financial assistance for respite and enrichment programs, such as after-school care, tutoring, or summer and day camps.  Program details and eligibility requirements are detailed below.

What kind of help is available to caregivers?

GNRC offers two programs: the Relative Caregiver program and the Family Caregiver Support program.

The Relative Caregiver program serves caregivers who are 55+ and the primary caregiver to a child related by blood, marriage, or adoption.

The Family Caregiver Support program* provides support to informal caregivers caring for their loved ones at home.

To be eligible for support services, the caregiver must meet one or more of the criteria below.

  • An adult family member (age 18 years or older) or other adult providing informal care to individuals 60 years of age or older.
  • An adult family member or other adult providing informal care to individuals of any age with Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders.
  • A caregiver age 55 or older providing care to an adult (ages 18-59) with disabilities.

* Eligibility for services and support may depend on additional criteria such as living arrangements, income level, diagnosis, and conditions.
