Susie Morris is a retired English teacher who now runs online academic and creative writing classes, as well as digital citizenship courses over the summer. These classes are designed to support student growth and development. This will be Ms. Morrisโ€™ 17th year teaching and online, so she is well seasoned, proficient and highly effective with online teaching and learning.

The brain is like a muscle that needs regular and consistent higher order thinking to stay "in-shape," so-to-speak. Thus, when students do not utilize their critical thinking skills over the summer (like reading, writing, analyzing and math commutations) they begin school with weak skills at a time when so many students are at a learning deficit since COVID.

As a long-time educator, Ms. Morris' goal is to empower students to stretch, pivot and nudge their thinking in such a way as to grow confidence, skills and fortitude in anticipation of the new school year.

Join Ms. Morrisโ€“an experienced English teacher with 28 years of classroom teaching with 17 years teaching onlineโ€“to develop healthy habits regarding online safety and usage.ย

Writing is like a muscle: the more students use it, the stronger it gets.ย  Join Ms. Morrisโ€™s class this summer to โ€œgrowโ€ that creative muscle by writing a fictional short story.ย  Students will learn the elements of a short story while developing their own.ย  With immediate feedback, suggestions and examples, students can submit their short story to the fall Scholastic Creative Writing Competition.ย  (Ms. Morris has been an English teacher for well over 28 years while teaching and tutoring online for the last 17.ย  She enjoys helping students find their confidence in words that support not only strong writing skills, but also bolstering effective reading and thinking skills.)
