Besides being one of the most beautiful seasons of the year, autumn means a lot of family fun at Cheekwood. Mark your calendars for these happenings taking place September – November:
FALL FOR CHEEKWOOD: SUNDAY, SEPT. 15
This annual fundraiser supporting Cheekwood’s free school tours and other education programs takes place from 4 – 7 p.m., and it’s chock full of family activities. Enjoy hayrides, a stroll through the pumpkin patch, lawn games, live entertainment, a photo booth, arts and crafts, and more. Admission is $250 members, $300 non-members (includes two adults and up to four children; $25 per additional child).
CHEEKWOOD HARVEST: SEPT. 21 – OCT. 27
Celebrate all-things fall during this month-long festivity. Pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, stroll along the Scarecrows exhibit (this year features a storybook theme) and take in the beauty of more than 5,000 fall chrysanthemums. Weekends bring special activities. Saturdays include lawn games, live music, family art projects, children’s storytimes, the beer garden, and garden and mansion tours. Sunday offerings include yoga and tai chi in the gardens, live music, the beer garden, mansion and garden tours, and behind-the-scenes greenhouse tours. Saturday, Oct. 26 is the Halloween Pooch Parade. Regular gate admission applies.
EL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS: SATURDAY, NOV. 2
This “Day of the Dead” Latin American festival features music, dance, food, art activities, altar displays and a marketplace. Admission is $22 adults, free ages 17 & younger.
