Attention, families in and around the Gallatin area! Are you looking for some fall fun this October and November? Look no further than the Historic Rose Mont, who’s hosting four upcoming events — some spooky, some family-friendly and all of them festive!
Here’s what the historic home has up its sleeves in the next month:
1. Death Comes to Rose Mont: A Victorian Mourning Experience
Saturday, October 18 | 6 – 9:45 p.m.
Join in the parlor at Rose Mont for a chilling and educational step back in time. This 45-minute immersive program features a mock funeral for young William Guild, who passed away at just one year of age in the 19th century.
Guided by historical interpreters, guests will learn about the customs of death and mourning during the Victorian Era — including how bodies were prepared and preserved, mourning attire and rituals, and the deeply symbolic traditions that shaped the grieving process of the time.
Trigger Warning: This event portrays the death of a child and includes historical mourning practices that some may find emotionally difficult.
2. Trick-or-Treat at Rose Mont
Friday, October 24 | 5 – 7 p.m.
Bring your little boos and ghouls to trick or treat though the historic home, candy walk in our reception hall and dance to music on our lawn. This event is free to attend. They request that there are no inflatable costumes since space in the stairways is limited.
3. Ghosts, Lore & S’mores
Saturday, November 1 | 6 – 11 p.m.
