Franklin Polo Summer Matches

Franklin Polo Academy, based in Franklin, is gearing up for summer polo games that you won’t want to miss. First up on Friday, June 2, is USA vs. Mexico. There are multiple ways to watch the polo game (taking place at the arena at Harlinsdale Farm). General admission (sold at the gate) is $10 per person and kids 10 and younger get in free. (Parking is free as well). Spring for a VIP Cabana (sheltered tent with a table and chair) for $200 a match. The cabanas seat 10 people and cabana guest are automatically entered into a random drawing for the half-time polo shoot-out challenge. Other polo matches taking place this summer and fall include:

• Tennessee vs. Florida on Saturday, July 15
• Raise the Roof Fundraiser (includes local match), Saturday, August 19
• USA vs. South Africa on Saturday, October 7
• “Poloween!” on Sunday, October 29 with a match between Franklin Polo and the UK

Lessons for All Ages

Franklin Polo Academy also offers polo lessons to adults and kids. An “Introduction to Polo” is a one-time lesson for $75. Participants learn about horses and equipment, safety, foot mallet practics, basic riding skills for polo and basic hitting while riding.  The Junior Riding/Polo Lesson Package for kids ages 10 – 14 is $375 for five lessons (single lessons are $85).  Kids learn safety instruction, polo grooming and tacking/untaking, hitting drills, rules and strategy and riding skills.
